Why People want IVF Success Stories Rather Than Statistics

Exercise your options. It almost sounds like a canned response. When the chips are down, you take another one. In so many ways, this is only natural. But there is one thing hindering people to do this: the uncertainty of the outcome.

In-vitro fertilization has seen tremendous progress over the last decade, having become a viable option for couples who can’t seem to conceive. The numbers have supported its cause: a 10 to 20 percent increase in the possibility of pregnancy, with over a million babies (and counting) being delivered by IVF.

For the typical couple, how can they merely rely on statistics? Conceiving a child is a pivotal facet of their relationship. Despite the scientific findings, any couple would find it hard to believe a bunch of numbers and factoids that they cannot relate to, or seemingly do not propose any simple explanations to one basic question: Does it work?

Testimonials are Better than Statistics

It’s so easy to believe someone with whom you have close ties. The stories they tell aren’t very difficult to believe, especially if you know them personally. Their experiences are closely relatable, since you have somewhat been there to see them through their experiences.

This goes the same for testimonials. A couple who has undergone IVF and has talked about their tale extensively is a lot more credible than faceless statistics. It’s that feeling of comfort that you get when talking to someone who can actually relate to your situation that makes testimonials so important.

Common Factor Among IVF Success Stories

If you took the time to read through several testimonials, you’ll realize a few common factors among the stories.

  • IVF doesn’t always work on the first try.

It’s possibly the most common factor of them all. And in a way, this makes so much sense. IVF is not a foolproof process where you can immediately have an embryo ready with each egg and sperm sample that you provide. It only maximizes the possibility of this happening. This is where all the other processes kick in. Eventually, you’ll figure out which one will actually work for you.

  • Men have to be proactive with the process as well.

It isn’t just women who have to be ready for IVF. Even men need to do their part in the process as well. Sperm count and motility is equally important as the health of the eggs. With 30% of failed pregnancies attributable to male fertility problems, it is essential that men take care of their reproductive health as well.

  • It’s not invasive.

The process of IVF is safe and does not harm the body in any way. This is perhaps the best assurance that a couple can get when undergoing this.

Truly, it is more comforting to read success stories than to go through various statistics. But never forget that these can still help in your assurance of the IVF process. Research as much as you can to learn about this process.
